Following our successful uniform launch with The Mondrian London, we were absolutely delighted to be contacted by St Martins Lane’s head office in the ‘Big Apple’ with the opportunity to design a new uniform for it’s up and coming renovation. We at Studio 104 wanted to share with you an insight into this exciting contract and give you a sneak peak into the inner workings here at Studio 104.
Having the exciting opportunity to work with St Martins Lane was very different for us specifically because it was a refurbishment and was not a hotel launch. Therefore we wanted to create a uniform which is within their existing branding, whilst providing a bespoke uniform that is original and will resonate with it’s existing clients. The Morgans Hotel Group refer to their guests as the ‘Creative Class’ and strongly encourage their guests to live ‘every moment more intensely’. Their creative flair, luxurious brand and innovative styling would only seem fitting collaborating with us at Studio 104. As a luxury uniforms brand we want to work on more daring designs for exciting clients with experimental ideas.
The Mondrian London commissioned Karen Langley (Beyoncé’s Stylist) to design the range for the new hotel. It was extremely exciting for Studio 104 as it was the first collaboration with a top fashion stylist who also is the former fashion editor of Dazed and Confused. Studio 104 worked exceptionally close with Karen to bring her creative vision and designs to life. After she designed the beautiful range we worked with the Mondrian staff directly to solidify what they wanted from their new uniforms. It is absolutely crucial for us to make our uniforms performance ready and visually stunning. We really enjoyed discussing with ‘the team’ to find what they generally wanted from their uniforms and gave an opportunity to edit and make them more personal.
We wanted to provide an excellent uniform to compliment the brand. After only having three months to design, develop and deliver the entire project we thoroughly enjoyed how fast paced it was. Despite the short amount of time to deliver the contract and having to overcome some design amendments, St Martins Lane and Studio 104 are extremely happy with the outcome.
