Cult TV show Mad Men and the 60s were the inspiration behind the Savoy Hotel’s American Bar uniform. Opened in 1878 and widely regarded as one of the world’s best cocktail bars meant the pressure was on to design a classic, elegant uniform with a contemporary twist.
The design team drew from the radical era of the sixties, resulting in slick, fitted suits and a monochrome palette, encompassing the iconic white jacket that has become part of the bar’s heritage. The mirrors in the bar sparked the idea behind the diamond jacquard trim used on the cocktail waitresses’ shift dress.
